10. Mittens In Different Colours With Three Flowers

Yarn: 75 % wool, 100 g = approx 130 m
Yarn Amount: approx 120 g (both colors)
Crochet Hook: 7 mm or size needed to obtain the gauge
Gauge: 14 double crochet stitches and 8 rounds = 10 cm
Size: Woman's M
Measurements: 22 cm around, 25 cm long

Abbreviations:
st(s), ch(s), sl st – stitch(es), chain/chain stitch(es), slip stitch
sc, dc – single crochet, double crochet
5 dc – work the indicated amount of stitches each in next stitch
[3 dc] – work all the stitches within brackets each in next stitch decreasing them into 1 stitch
{ } – repeat instructions within braces as many times as directed
/ – the number after slash symbol shows the amount of stitches for the round; chain stitches at the beginning of the round and slip stitch at the end of the round are not included
pf – puff which in this case is made of 2 treble crochet stitches: yarn over hook twice, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over hook and draw it through the sitch, yarn over hook and draw it through 2 loops on hook, yarn over hook and draw it through 2 loops on hook; repeat the instructions one more time inserting hook into the same stitch – there are 3 loops on hook now; yarn over hook and draw it through all 3 loops
Mitten
The mitten is worked in rounds with a jump between rounds. Join the rounds with a slip stitch in first double crochet on working round. Next round begins with 2 chain stitches. First double crochet on next round is worked in first double crochet on previous round, that is into the same double crochet where the joining slip stitch was worked.
Round 1: ch 30, sl st in first ch to form ring. Continue to work 29 sl sts. All sl sts are worked in back bar of chs. / 30 sl sts
Round 2: ch 2, 30 dc working in back loops, sl st in first dc on working round. / 30 dc
Round 3: ch 2, 30 dc, sl st in first dc on working round. / 30 dc
Rounds 4-9: Repeat round 3.
Rounds 10-11 for left mitten:
Round 10: ch 2, 15 dc, ch 5, turn the work, sl st in 10th dc on working round, turn the work, sl st in each of 5 chs, 15 dc, sl st in first dc on working round. / 30 dc
Round 11: ch 2, 10 dc, dc in each of 5 sl sts, 15 dc, sl st in first dc on working round. / 30 dc
Rounds 10-11 for right mitten:
Round 10: ch 2, 20 dc, ch 5, turn the work, sl st in 15th dc on working round, turn the work, sl st in each of 5 chs, 10 dc, sl st in first dc on working round. / 30 dc

Leave the remaining loop on hook. Pick up 4 loops by inserting hook in 2nd to 5th dc on the last round and pulling up the yarn through these stitches like in Tunisian crochet. Move all loops onto double-pointed needle. Pick up 5 loops more in the same way inserting hook in 6th to 10th dc. Cut the yarn, thread it through all loops and pull it firmly to tighten the opening. Fasten off on the inside and weave in the end.
Thumb
The thumb is worked in rounds in the same way as the mitten.
Round 1 for left thumb: Attach the yarn in 10th dc on round 10, ch 2, [1 dc in 10th dc and 1 dc in 11th dc on round 10], 3 dc in 12th to 14th dc round 10, [1 dc in 15th dc and 1 dc in 16th dc on round 10], 5 dc in same sts as 15th to 11th dc on round 11, sl st in first dc on working round. / 10 dc
Round 1 for right thumb: Attach the yarn in 21st dc on round 10, ch 2, 5 dc i same sts as 20th to 16th dc on round 11, [1 dc in 15th dc and 1 dc in 16th dc on round 10], 3 dc in 17th to 19th dc on round 10, [1 dc in 20th dc and 1 dc in 21st dc on round 10], sl st in first dc on working round. / 10 dc
Round 2: ch 2, 10 dc, sl st in first dc on working round. / 10 dc
Round 3: Same as round 2.
Round 4: ch 2, { [2 dc], 1 dc, [2 dc] } twice, sl st in first dc on working round. / 6 dc
Close the opening using the same method as described for the mitten. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Flower
Round 1: ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 10 sc into ring.
Round 2: start working into first sc on round 1, { sl st, ch 3, pf, ch 3 } 5 times, sl st in first sl st on working round.
Make 3 flowers in each color and sew them on the back side of the mittens referring to the photo.
