Yarn: 75 % wool, 100 g = approx 200 m
Yarn Amount: approx 70 g; self-striping in dark green shades or dark green – 40 g, light green – 15 g, red – 15 g
Needles: single-pointed 4 mm or size needed to obtain the gauge
Gauge: 21 stitches and 28 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 cm
Size: Woman's M
Measurements: 21 cm around, 25 cm long

k2tR – knit 2 together with a slope to the right: insert the right needle knitwise into next 2 stitches at once and knit them together as if they were one stitch
k2tL – knit 2 together with a slope to the left: slip 2 stitches one at a time knitwise, place them back on the left needle, then knit them together through the back loops as if they were one stitch
ilR – increase by lifting a stitch from the right side: lift the stitch one row below the next stitch and knit it

Mitten
The mitten is worked in rows on single-pointed straight needles. Cast on 44 stitches with red, use long-tail cast-on and work over two needles held together to get an elastic edge. Refer to the chart for right mitten, left mitten is knitted mirrorwise. The work starts from the wrong side.
Row 1*: k1, p42, k1. / 44 sts
Change to light green, leave a tail of yarn.
Row 2**: p44.
Row 3**: k1, { k2tR, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, k2tL } 6 times, k1. / 44 sts
Row 4**: p44.
Rows 5-16**: Repeat rows 3-4.
Change to dark green, leave a long tail of yarn.
Row 17 for right mitten: k1, { ilR, k21 } twice, k1. / 46 sts
Row 17 for left mitten: k1, { k21, ilL } twice, k1. / 46 sts
Rows 18-30: Work in stockinette stitch.

Cut the yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches, leave it loose.
Thumb
The thumb is also worked in rows on single-pointed straight needles. Leave a long tail of yarn and cast on 16 stitches with dark green using backward-loop cast-on. Both thumbs are knitted in the same way. The work starts from the right side.
Rows 1-16: Work in stockinette stitch. / 16 sts
Row 17: { k2, k2tL, k1, k2tR } twice, k2. / 12 sts
Row 18: p12.
Row 19: k1, { k2tL, k1, k2tR } twice, k1. / 8 sts
Cut the yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches, leave it loose. Use the tail that was left at the beginning to sew the thumb to the the mitten. Start sewing in the middle of the cast-on edge on row 34 so that the side seam of the thumb turns to the palm, use the kitchener stitch. Continue to sew up the sides of the thumb using mattress stitch. At last, tighten the thumb opening by pulling the yarn that was thread through the remaining stitches. Fasten off and weave in both ends on the inside.
Sew up the sides of the mitten and close the mitten opening in the same way as described for the thumb. Weave in all ends.

The thumb is also worked in rows on single-pointed straight needles. Leave a long tail of yarn and cast on 16 stitches with dark green using backward-loop cast-on. Both thumbs are knitted in the same way. The work starts from the right side.
Rows 1-16: Work in stockinette stitch. / 16 sts
Row 17: { k2, k2tL, k1, k2tR } twice, k2. / 12 sts
Row 18: p12.
Row 19: k1, { k2tL, k1, k2tR } twice, k1. / 8 sts
Cut the yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches, leave it loose. Use the tail that was left at the beginning to sew the thumb to the the mitten. Start sewing in the middle of the cast-on edge on row 34 so that the side seam of the thumb turns to the palm, use the kitchener stitch. Continue to sew up the sides of the thumb using mattress stitch. At last, tighten the thumb opening by pulling the yarn that was thread through the remaining stitches. Fasten off and weave in both ends on the inside.
Sew up the sides of the mitten and close the mitten opening in the same way as described for the thumb. Weave in all ends.
