5. Wrist Warmers With Poppies

Yarn: 75% wool, 100 g = approx 200 m
Yarn Amount: approx 65 g including small amounts of red, light blue and black
Needles: set of 5 double-pointed 3,5 mm or size needed to obtain the gauge
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rounds in stockinette stitch = 10 cm
Size: Woman's M
Measurements: 18/25 cm around top/bottom edge, 20 cm long
Skill Level: Intermediate
Abbreviations:
st(s), k, p – stitch(es), knit, purl
yo – yarn over
2yo – yarn over twice; on the next round the first of these stitches is knitted as usual, the second is knitted throught the back loop
k2tR – knit 2 together with a slope to the right: insert the right needle knitwise into next 2 stitches at once and knit them together as if they were one stitch
k2tL – knit 2 together with a slope to the left: slip 2 stitches one at a time knitwise, place them back on the left needle, then knit them together through the back loops as if they were one stitch
{ } – repeat instructions within braces as many times as directed
/ – the number after slash symbol shows the amount of stitches for the round, sometimes it is also suggested how to arrange the stitches on the needles
Wrist Warmer
The wrist warmer is worked in rounds. Both wrist warmers are knitted in the same way. Cast on 23+11+22+10=66 stitches dividing them over 4 needles as directed, use long-tail cast-on and work over two needles held together to get an elastic edge. Make sure that the cast-on edge is not twisted and using the fourth needle (the one with 10 stitches) knit 1 stitch from the first needle (the one with 23 stitches). / 22+11+22+11=66 sts
Round 1: p66.
Round 2: k66.
Round 3: { k2, k2tR, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, k2tL, k2 } 6 times. / 22+11+22+11=66 sts
Rounds 4-5: Repeat rounds 2-3.
Round 6: k64, leaving 2 last stitches unworked move them from 4th needle to 1st needle, move also 2 last stitches from 1st needle to 2nd needle, from 2nd to 3rd, and from 3rd to 4th. / 22+11+22+11=66 sts
Round 7: { k2tL, 2yo, k2tR, k2tR, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, k2tL } 6 times. / 66 sts
Round 8: k66.
Round 9: Same as round 7.
Round 10: k66, continue to work with 4th needle and knit 2 stitches from 1st needle, move 2 first stitches from 2nd needle to 1st needle, from 3rd to 2nd, and from 4th to 3rd. / 22+11+22+11=66 sts
Round 11: Same as round 3.
Rounds 12-19: Repeat rounds 2-3.
Round 20: { k1, k2tR, k5, k2tL, k1 } 6 times. / 18+9+18+9=54 sts
