Yarn Amount: approx 85 g
Needles: set of 5 double-pointed 4 mm or size needed to obtain the gauge, for knitting with two strands
Gauge: 21 stitches and 30 rounds in stockinette stitch = 10 cm
Crochet Hook: 3 mm, for crocheting with one strand

Mitten
The mitten is worked in rounds using two strands. Cast on 11+10+10+9=40 stitches dividing them over 4 needles as directed, use long-tail cast-on and work over two needles held together to get an elastic edge. Make sure that the cast-on edge is not twisted and using the fourth needle (the one with 9 stitches) knit 1 stitch from the first needle (the one with 11 stitches). / 10+10+10+10=40 sts
Round 1: {p1, k1} 20 times, mark the first purl stitch of the round by threading waste yarn into it. / 40 sts
Rounds 2-12: Knit.
Round 13: Same as round 1.
Rounds 14-24: Knit.
Round 25: Same as round 1.
Rounds 26-31: Knit.
Round 32 for left mitten: k13, place 7 sts on waste yarn, cast on 7 sts using backward-loop cast-on, k20. / 40 sts
Round 32 for right mitten: k21, place 7 sts on waste yarn, cast on 7 sts using backward-loop cast-on, k12. / 40 sts
Rounds 33-57: Knit.
Round 58: { k1, k2tR, k15, k2tL } twice. / 36 sts
Rounds 59-60: Knit.
Round 61: { k1, k2tR, k13, k2tL } twice. / 32 sts
Round 62: k32.
Round 63: { k1, k2tR, k11, k2tL } twice. / 28 sts

Cut the yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches. Pull it firmly to tighten the opening, fasten off on the inside and weave in the end.
Thumb
The thumb is knitted using 7 stitches held on waste yarn, 7 stitches picked up along the cast-on edge on round 32, and 2 extra stitches picked up between the held stitches and the cast-on stitches – 1 stitch on each side of the thumb. The extra stitches are knitted twisted on the first round and knitted together with neighbouring stitches on the second round.
Rounds 1-2 for left thumb:
Start knitting into fourth stitch on the cast-on edge of 7 stitches.
Round 1: pu-k4, pu-k1-tw, k7, pu-k1-tw, pu-k3. / 16 sts
Round 2: k3, k2tL, k7, k2tR, k2. / 14 sts
Rounds 1-2 for right thumb:
Start knitting into fifth stitch on the cast-on edge of 7 stitches.
Round 1: pu-k3, pu-k1-tw, k7, pu-k1-tw, pu-k4. / 16 sts
Round 2: k2, k2tL, k7, k2tR, k3. / 14 sts
Rounds 3-16: Knit.
Round 17: { k1, k2tL, k1, k2tR, k1 } twice. / 10 sts
Round 18: k10.

Close the opening using the same method as described for the mitten. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Lace Edging
The lace edgings are crocheted directly on the mitten by inserting the hook under the purl stitches. All the lace edging rows are crocheted in the same way. Turn the mitten upside down and start by attaching the yarn in the first purl stitch on the mitten round 25. Work in rounds using one strand.
Round 1: ch 3 (2 chain stitches count as 1 double crochet), 1 dc in the same stitch where the yarn was attached, ch 4, { (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in second purl stitch from the hook, ch 4 } 9 times, sl st in second ch on working round. / 10 chsp1, 10 chsp4
