51. Mittens 'A Dream Of Summer'
2014-04-21, by Jolanta Gustafsson
Inspiration for these mittens came from traditional Swedish mittens, the ones that are made in needle binding technique and embroidered with lots of flowers. However I used crochet technique both for making the mittens and for flower embellishment. This created quite a different look, but the floral splendour is there anyway.

50. Mittens With Bobble Edging
2014-03-16, by Jolanta Gustafsson
These mittens are crocheted in rounds in single crochet stitches in back loop with a simple geometrical pattern. I used 4 different colors for them - nice vibrant shades of lilac. I really like this color combination! And the bobble edging, I like it even more!

42. Mittens In Back Post Double Crochet
2013-11-09, by Jolanta Gustafsson
These mittens are crocheted in back post double crochet all the way through. This creates a very thick fabric – I guess that the mittens would be warm enough even in 30 degrees below zero. In spite of the thickness the fabric is very stretchy, so I made the mittens without thumb gusset. The thumb opening is made using foundation double crochet.
Back post double crochet creates a beautiful pattern of chain stitch rows, and it looks even more beautiful when worked in different colors. Yarn: 75 % wool, 100 g = approx 260 m Crochet Hook: 4 mm |
40. Mittens And Scarf In Self-Striping Yarn
2013-10-19, by Jolanta Gustafsson
Usually when we choose a stitch pattern, we use to apply it either for the whole item or for some rows/rounds of it. This time I wanted to try something different. I used a self-striping yarn and applied a stitch pattern depending on the color of the yarn. I've chosen a double crochet cross stitch for the brightest parts of yarn, while the rest of the items were worked in regular double crochet. You never know what the result is going to be when you work this way, but it's amazing!

38. White Mittens With Bobbles And Leaves
2013-09-28, by Jolanta Gustafsson
The mittens are crocheted in naturally white wool blend and decorated with a three-dimensional border and a bobble flower. All the details are made as you go, so there are no extra yarn ends to weave in. Note that the bobbles are completely round (similar to knitted bobbles) and can be crocheted on the background of any stitch.

35. Cuffs In Filet Crochet With Lace Edging
2013-08-17, by Jolanta Gustafsson
These colorful cuffs are made in cotton in filet crochet. Due to the bright colors and the open texture they go well to be worn even on hot sunny days.

31. Lace Border Cuffs
2013-06-25, by Jolanta Gustafsson
Inspiration for the cuffs came from traditional lace border patterns. I love this simple but very expressive stitch pattern! I wanted the cuffs to sit tightly so I made a button closure. I used wooden buttons to strengthen a traditional and natural look.

29. Cuffs 'Flower Field'
2013-05-18, by Jolanta Gustafsson
The cuffs are made out of crocheted flowers. Seven different shades of red and blue violet where used for the flowers. Each flower consists of three colors and every flower has a diffrent color combination. All these shades of red and blue violet are soft and beautiful and go well with each other reminding me of a flower field.
